Visualization of cellular networks in a
Java-based radio network simulator

The visualization tool has been implemented with three different views that easily can be extended to additional views after requirements. Screenshots of these views can be seen in the figures below.

Map View

Map view displays the geographical location of base stations and user equipments. Initially, cell specific colour coding of users is used to differentiate users of one cell from users in another cell.

Physical Resource Grid View

The Physical Resource Grid View displays the resource allocation for different users. LTE uses a dynamic resource allocation which is a major improvement from older technologies that uses static resource allocation.

Protocol Stack View

The Protocol Stack View displays information about the TCP and the IP network layer for the communication between a user and an Internet server.

All transmission of data can be supervised in this view, as well as the changes in the internal state of the layers, e.g. the TCP congestion window size.
