Welcome

MO3R is a project conducted by seven students at the Institute of Technology of Linköping University with SAAB AB and the group R3DM as contractor. The project also carries the name Virtual Garden, but as the technique for the software was decided the name Monocular Outdoor 3D Reconstruction (or MO3R for short) was adopted.

Feel free to navigate through the different pages of this site. The information provided here should be enough to get at general idea about the project and probably even enough to use it efficiently. In order to fully understand the intricate details of how the algorithm works and what methods are used please read the documentation that is provided in the downloads section.

Reconstruction Videos

What is it that better shows the results of a project than videos. Here we present two videos that demonstrate features of the reconstruction software MO3R.

The Reconstruction Process

Key Features

3D Reconstruction with cheap and available hardware

MO3R is accessible to anyone with an Android mobile phone and a computer. All software used is free for personal use and the minimum hardware requirements are low.

In order to get a nice and smooth experience at least a dual core processor is recommended.

Easy to use Visualisation functionality

The viewer is constructed around the principle that it should be easy to use and navigate. The scene may be traversed using controls known from many first person game engines.

Image Patches in 3D

Visually appealing image patches cut from the projection of the 3D point in the keyframe where it was first detected are placed in the 3D space of the OpenGL visualiser.

This simplifies identification of the environment and provides a far more pleasing result than just extracted colours.
